Pinterest is a visual social bookmarking service, similar to Dropular. Pinterest’s main advantage is a steady flow of new content, and that it seems to be in constant development. Dropular, on the other hand, feels more and more like a ghost town.
Pinterest’s main weakness is that its framework forces every image to become part of a warm and fuzzy experience.
While Dropular’s neutral, almost cold framework feels like an art exhibition, Pinterest’ textured backgrounds and warm color pallette feels more like a pyjama party.
With a more dropular-esque theme, the images are allowed to speak for themselves.
If Pinterest would take it more easy on the stripes and beiges, it would be perfect.

Thanks for this! This is something we’re looking at right now, and while I’m not sure that we’ll drop the beige, I do think that the interface should feel lighter. Over time, I think you’ll find pinterest will distinguish itself from pure image bookmarking services. I hope to get more of your suggestions as we try new things!
