Trip to Red Dot Awards in Essen

The Future Cities project was awarded a Red Dot Award in the Corporate Design Category. On Wednesday, I went to the Red Dot awards show in Essen, Germany, to pick up the price. It was a great afterparty as well, with more than 800 guests, and free beer and wurst.

The award ceremonies and party took place in an abandoned coal mine, now acting as an object of desire to the postindustrial classes.

There were a lot of great projects among the winners, one of my favorites was the rebranding of Amnesty International by Scholz & Friends.

Another favorite, «Does the world exist without me?» by Rebecca Butzlaff, Milena Carstens,
Janine Gockel, Paula Winkler at FH Bielefeld

Essen is an industrial town with app. half a million citizens. Due to its weapon industry,  it was bombed flat during WWII, and rebuilt in the fifties and sixties.

Our main station is a bit boring. How about decorating it with intense blue neon lights?
